You can quickly remove the mold release residue on the plastic part without causing any damage.
Plastic injection molds are often sprayed with a mold release agent to prevent sticking to the mold and control the uniformity of the product.
These sprays leave oily residue on the plastic pieces they form.
This thin mold release agent can be cleaned from the plastic surface with some common household products.
Once the oil is completely removed, the parts can be painted or assembled.
Put on the rubber gloves, fold the rag twice, then pour the mineral spirits into the center of the fabric until the circle of the size of the drink cup pad is wet by the solvent.
Sprinkle about a tablespoon of powder laundry detergent on mineral spirits, squeeze the fabric to close and mix the two together.
Open the cloth and rub all surfaces of the plastic parts with a mixture of mineral spirits and detergents.
Fold the cloth into the new section and re-apply the mineral spirit and detergent mixture until you remove all the mold release residue.
Touch the surface of the plastic to see if it still feels oily.
Once all released residues are washed off, rinse the plastic parts under tap water to wash off any soap powder and minerals left.
Completely dry the plastic pieces with a new rag.
